D-link Wireless Card (DWL-G520) casuses Windows to Freeze

I have a new Dell Inspirion 530 running Windows XP. I'm trying to add a D-link DWL-G520 wireless PCI card which was running flawlessly on my wife's Dimension 8300.

I downlaoded the drivers from D-link and they seemed to install correctly. After installing the card, I booted up the Insiprion.

All attempts so far have cased XP to freeze. It either freezes at the XP logo start up screen with the black background or after the desktop appears. In the latter case, a little window will appear over the system tray that say something like "New Hardware Detected D-link DWL-G520." The green light coming out of the back of the card will blink too making me think the card is ok.

I've installed and uninstalled the drivers three times already just to try it again. The other thing I've tried is to install the card in the other open PCI slot on the Insirion. That didn't work either.

Does anyone have other ideas on what I can try either with the card or configuring XP?

Thanks

-Ty

A year after this post was made, I'm having exactly the same problem. I'm using XP Pro on a new Dell Inspiron 530 desktop; my D-link DWL-G520 worked fine in my old Dimension XPS T800r.

I have uninstalled / reinstalled the D-link software and drivers several times, disabled the onboard network card (both in the Device Manager and in the BIOS), upgraded the BIOS, uninstalled / reinstalled my antivirus for this install, and tried everything suggested by D-link tech support and in the D-link tech forums. Still, with the card in place, windows freezes on boot.

Looks like other people are having similar trouble with this combination, but I don't see any answers.

Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance
