Bad network card? Help!

Cannot get on the internet! It says Unidentified network/No internet access.

I tried every little trick to get it working. I tried the Winsock fix...the delete Route 0.0.0.0 fix. Pretty much every fix. There is 1 thing i can do that will fix this problem but once I restart and or reboot the computer the problem will come back.

1 thing to get it working is I go to the Device Manager and go to the Network Adapter, click the Broadcom Netlink(TM) Gigabit Ethernet adapter, I right click and I hit Uninstall, then I click search for new hardware......it will do a plug and play but it says cannot update drive because the Serial ATA controller driver......but after that my internet is working again...I have to do that everytime.

For some reason when I go into Safe mode with networking, my internet is fine. I talked to my Internet Service Provider and told them the problems, that are going on.

They said that the Network Card is bad. (This get work card is built in to the motherboard) I want to buy this network card, because I only have 1 slot and the slot is only like 1-2 inches long...I'll post a link the the network card with the slot it has. I want to know will it work with any computer?

My computer is an Alienware Aurora-i7 980x-3.33ghz, 12GB ram, 320GB hard drive. Nvidia Geforce GTX 295. I was wondering if the network card I buy will work with my computer. Here is the link to the network card http://www.ebay.com/itm/Top-Gigabit-Ethernet-LAN-Network-PCI-Express-PCIE-Card-/180756028587?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a15e61cab

^^ That is the only slot I have left on the motherboard.  Would that network card work on the Alienware Aurora?

ThatOne_Gamer,

Did you recently install the operating system? How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order

THIS is for printers but there is a setting in there you may need.

Windows Vista cannot obtain an IP address from certain routers or from certain non-Microsoft DHCP servers

Don't waste your money.

If your internet access is fine in Safe Mode, then the network card is *not* bad. It is something else.

What is causing it to not get internet in normal mode but internet in safe mode?

ThatOne_Gamer,

What virus program and firewall are you using?

Have yo scanned for malware? Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware update it and do a quick scan. Report back if it finds anything.

I'm using the AVG 2012 free edition. The only firewall I know about is the Windows Firewall and that is on. I'll download Malwarebytes too.

I also have another question that might cause this problem.

In the Device Manager under "Other Devices" It shows Serial ATA Controller with a yellow ! on it. When I try to update the driver it says no driver found. I tried searching for the Serial ATA Controller driver but cannot find any.

PudgyOne you are the MAN!!! I feel like a dumb now...I ordered the network card yesterday on ebay...a $10 dollar mistake.

You were correct I installed windows 7 ultimate 64bit but after downloading and installing the Correct drivers, from the link you posted. My internet is working fine. I don't have to do that little fix trick every time.

I cannot believe you fixed this problem. Thank you, thank you, thank you very much!

Not sure which one fixed the issue. I only downloaded the Chipset, the Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet card driver, and the Matrix Intell driver for the ATA controller.

Thanks again! Now I just have to sell that network card on craigslists...or keep it just incase!
