Unmounting USB: S4048-ON OS9

I am having some trouble finding information on this. I originally came across this doc stating that "If a new USB flash drive is installed without un-mounting the previous drive, the new flash drive may not be recognized". I found no unmount command in OS9 on my S4048. I later realized that doc was for N series switches.

Anyway, when I removed a USB drive after saving a config and plugged in a new USB drive, the switch rebooted. Is this expected? Is there a different method on the S4048 in OS9 for unmounting USB drives?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

For OS9, there isn't an unmount command. It's plug and play. But it's weird that the switch reboots when a USB drive is plugged in. Does the switch reboots after you tried any other of all your other USB drives? If yes, I suspect the switch's USB circuit board internally have issue. It is not normal, to answer your question.

@DELL-Joey C Thanks for your response. This only happened to us once. We didn't try to reproduce the issue. We only tried 2 different USB drives and the one that appeared to make the Switch reboot had Ventoy installed (bootable media). We wondered if that might have caused the reboot. I probably should have mentioned that in my original post.

The_LostIT_Guy,

While that is a distinct possibility, we wouldn't be able to be certain without testing it, but if it works normally with another USB then I would think that is the casse.
