Powerconnect 5012 Boot Issues
I recently got a powerconnect 5012 from someone else.
Was trying to set it up for the first time.
Connected a null modem cable through a USB adapter
When I power up the switch, it starts cycling through the boot sequence repeatedly -- crashing repeatedly at
Assertion "PAL_IsPortIDValid(sourcePortID)" in file port_mir.c at line 96 failed.
I have disabled the password, but can't seem to be able to boot.
Would appreciate any help on this.
Thanks

I was hoping someone would reply to this..
I figured it might help flashing the switch with new firmware -- the switch does not seem to recognize any of the ethernet ports in the front.
I thought IO could try flashing the firmware from the console port using xmodem -- but I am not able to break through the continuous boot loop to get through to the xmodem screen. I am able to get to the prompt that gives a choice between flash and net boot option -- and tftp vs bootp option (don't know what bootp is). But no facility for n xmodem upload of a firmware file.
I may be going about completely the wrong.
I would really appreciate any help.
Thanks
