N2024 SDM Template Documentation Issue?
My switch's firmware version is 6.7.1.22
I am attempting to migrate from another vendor's switch. Their SDM Template had some interesting options where one was desirable to me. So I checked out this feature on your switch. The User Guide 6.7.0 says what I learned to also be true from the other vendor
Different SDM templates allow different combinations of scaling factors, enabling different allocations of resources depending on how the device is used. In other words, SDM templates enable reallocating system resources to support a different mix of features based on network requirements."
Your switch has 4 options and from the published table these options appear to be two identical pairs.
Dual IPv4 and IPv6 Default matches Data Center IPv4 and IPv6
IPv4 Routing Default matches Data Center Plus IPv4
The System > General > SDM Template Preference window contains the following:
The associated online help file does not clarify matters providing only the names:
The User’s Configuration Guide Version 6.7.0 only includes 3 of the 4 options:
What Are SDM Templates?
An SDM template is a description of the maximum resources a switch or router can use for various features. Different SDM templates allow different combinations of scaling factors, enabling different allocations of resources depending on how the device is used. In other words, SDM templates enable reallocating system resources to support a different mix of features based on network requirements. Dell EMC Networking N-Series switches support the following three templates:
• Dual IPv4 and IPv6 (default)
• IPv4 Routing
• IPv4 Data Center
Table 11-3 describes the parameters that are scaled for each template and the per-template maximum value of the parameter. The N1100-ON Series switches do not support routing. The N3000EP-ON scales identically to the other N3000-ON Series switches, depending on the selected firmware.(several tables follow for various switch models. The tables did not identify any differences to me)
The CLI Reference Guide Version 6.7 contains reference to the maximum number of next hops unless restricted by the SDM Default Configuration for command "maximum-paths".
I believe these features are probably different; is there some documentation that identifies the differences?
Thanks

Hello, I didn't encounter documents that identify the differences. From Cisco's configuration guides, I found this article might be similar to N series switches and I believe mostly same Catalyst 3750-X and Catalyst 3560-X Switch Software Configuration Guide, Cisco IOS Release 15.0(2)SE and Later - Configuring SDM Templates [Cisco Catalyst 3750-X Series Switches] - Cisco
Configuring SDM Templates (https://dell.to/3wel9iL)
Even though N series is similar to the Cisco very much I'm not sure how common features they have.

@Dell-ErmanO They agree on IPv4 and Dual IPv4/IPv6 however the Dell modifiers of default and datacenter only map clearly to one of the 4 cisco modifiers access, default, routing and vlan. My network only uses IPv4 at this time so understanding the difference between the IPv4 default and data center is probably my primary interest. I can load both on the switch and check the footprint size myself
