MTU problem in NSX environment

Hello,

I hane a problem with MTU size on Dell OS10 PowerSwitch. I set MTU 9216 on phisical interface, vlan and port channel.

On servers we have maximum mtu set for 9000. We can't ping switch gateway address from server witch value larger than 1400. Does enyone have the same problem?

Regards.

Hello, I think for the ping issue, you might need to adjust the MTU size on your server or check the network path between your server and the switch. If you have configured the MTU size as 9216 but it is still shown as a smaller value, it might be because the interface is in L2 mode and part of a port-channel. You should adjust the MTU on the port-channel and VLAN interface you are using for routing to 9216 (L2 MTU).

Or if you can’t ping the switch gateway address from the server with a value larger than the MTU, it could be due to the network path between your server and the switch. Packets larger than the MTU are divided into smaller fragments, which can lead to connectivity issues Dell Networking OS10 How to use ping utility with a source IP, MTU, VRF, and do not fragment bit | Dell US

Hope that helps!
