Issue Connecting to DELL S4048T-ON via Console

Hi,

I'm hoping someone can assist with an issue I'm facing while trying to connect to our DELL S4048T-ON switch via the console. I'm encountering a problem, and I'm unsure if it's related to the baud rate, a possible issue with the switch's console port, or something else that I'm not aware of. I’ve already tried replacing the console cable, but the issue persists.

Hi,

The terminal setting would be as you mentioned:

  • 115200 baud rate
  • No parity
  • 8 data bits
  • 1 stop bit
  • No flow control

But, I previously encountered before that some users have used different console cables to resolve the issue of not readable letters. Here's the Dell DPN# for the serial cable: C206M. Maybe you can also try another console client or the cable should not be converted to USB.

The image I attached isn't appearing.

In PuTTY connected via console, all I'm seeing are scattered letters and lines.

My Serial configuration is:

Speed(Baud): 115200 and 9600

data Bits: 8

Stop Bits: 1

Parity and Flow Control: None
