3348 Web Management Issue

I've installed my 3348 and it's running just fine, except that the Web Management is extremely flaky.

I've given VLAN 1 on the 3348 an IP address, I've added an admin user with level 15 access, and that's all.

I then open my browser and hit the IP address and voila, the web interface comes up. I log in and everything is fine for about 2-5 minutes. Then the web interface no longer works and the IP of my switch is not pingable anymore.  If I restart the switch, everything is happy again but only for 2-5 minutes.

Anyone have any ideas. This is driving me insane, but holding on the phone for expensive Dell support is driving me even more insane :smileymad:

It sounds like you may have an IP address conflict or other network-related issue not isolated to the switch itself. To troubleshoot this, I would suggest the following:
  1. Remove the switch from the rest of the network. Connect only one system to the switch and configure both the switch and client to use static IP addresses. Test management of the switch from the client and see if the problem still exists.
  2. If the problem exists with the single client, try downloading either Mozilla Firefox or Netscape 7.2. Manage the switch with one of these browsers to determine if Internet Explorer is causing the problem.
  3. If the problem does not exist with the single client, connect the switch back to your network and sniff traffic on the network while duplicating the problem to find the source of the issue.
