NMC see only one drive from networker server and nothing from the storage node
Our environment runs with Oracle Sparc Solaris and has one networker server, with a FC-based connected IBM Library, using 2 drives and one storage node with an IBM library, using 2 drives via FC.
In the networker server I have so far no problems, no problems to use the 4 drives...
But in the NMC, I go to the reports - devices - drive utilization - I see only one tape-drive - the "first" one from the networker backup server, but not the second one or the drives from the storage node...
any hints?
All networker software parts are recently updated to V8.2.1.0Build.681.

Hi,
Can you see the tape drives and libraries under "Devices" tab of the NW server?

Hello Polska
as mentioned in my initial question, we have nor problems to use all 4 drives in the two libraries.
The networker server has physically connected 2 FC-drives and the storage node also. Alls drives are visible and usable from the networker server.
But only one drive seen by the Networker Management Console...

was this configured with jbconfig rather than using NMC gui? if so i have heard of issues with NMC and Solaris 10 discovering drives in NMC.
Then you would not see them in devices tab.
And also I assume the Storage node is same Networker level.

Hello ottov
using the NMC:
Deleted 2nd device, deleting the library, Rescanning and reconfiguring library and the 2 devices...
The NMC Report Device utilisation shows the first device, no once more...
But after "Rescanning" a 2nd time for libraries and devices, there are warnings - see here, in my messages:

I've tried a few other things - confusing me.
The IBM 3576-MTL (LTO4-FC) is listed in the compatibilty matrix with Sparc Solaris 10.
So here are the results of a few cli commands:
# sjirdp 1.1.1
1.1.1: No such device
# sjirjc 1.1.1
1.1.1: No such device
inquire -clp -s
-l flag found: searching all LUNs, which may take over 10 minutes per adapter
for some fibre channel adapters. Please be patient.
(using name lookup)

why is this device (1.1.1) "busy"?

Hello Ottov
thanks for your hints - I will give you the feedback, that the changes won't seen in a few days, but after a few weeks...
This can be a behaviour while we are not using the networker workflows, all of our savings are manual client triggered...
so, actual, I can see all 4 devices.
