DR Space usage getting full

Hi Everyone,

Is there any way to remove or reduce the space size of the data domain? I trying to do the clean up but it gives me less size for clean up. still new in Dell EMC networker

the only way to do that is by properly expiring data on the backup application end so that data is to be actually deleted. However that is never a one on one, as data can still be deduping against blocks of other backups.

So one thing to verify if for example the NW nsrim run being run whenever the NW sever protection workflow is being run, should show what the expiration resulted in for a specific device (if sharing the same backup volume with multiple devices, only one device is actually mentioned in the logs). NW has a default apporach that it will NOT actually expire data on ddboost devices if that device is being actually read from. A debug option can be set in /nsr/debug/recover_space_anytime to force the expiration, even if being read from. It is intended as an unsollicited safeguard in case data already expired and is being read from, preventin it from being deleted. However this default behavior can cause some ddboost backup volumes never to have any data expired on it, or not each day, hence running out of space...

Dedupe makes capacity management slightly more complex, as you cannot simply expire data on the backup application end and hope to actually release the same amount or even any amount, as you don't know what it all dedupes against.
