U2722DE, KVM not switching keyboard and mouse
My Dell U2722DE is plugged into an Alienware laptop via mini DisplayPort, and MacBook Pro (Apple silicon) via Thunderbolt (it wouldn't work with a regular USB-C cable). Unfortunately, when I switch from Mac back to Windows, it switches the display correctly, but it won't switch the mouse and keyboard until I unplug the thunderbolt cable from my Mac. This means the whole point of a KVM isn't working; might as well just unplug one and plug the other in.

KVM switch and the MacBook Pro. One thing you can try is updating the firmware on your KVM switch to see if that resolves the issue. Additionally, you may want to check if there are any driver updates for your laptop's graphics card or for your KVM switch.
Another possibility is that the KVM switch is not fully compatible with both the mini DisplayPort and Thunderbolt ports. In this case, you may need to consider purchasing a different KVM switch that is specifically designed to work with both of these types of ports.
Finally, if all else fails, you may need to manually switch your keyboard and mouse between the two computers when you switch the display. While this is less convenient than using a KVM switch, it will allow you to continue using both computers with the same monitor.

@Carkos thanks for the reply. To clarify, the KVM is built in to the U2722DE. This is why I purchased the monitor in the first place. Thanks.

@dkift Sorry, no. I ended up buying a minisopuru dock (not a KVM) because I was also experiencing issues with mouse performance on one platform (after a firmware update the performance trouble switched to the other platform, frustratingly). Now I just swap the USB-C connector to the dock from one machine to the other to switch. But the whole point of this $550+ monitor was the KVM and DP daisy chain (which actually didn't work when I played a game so I had to switch all my cables around). I wouldn't recommend this monitor as a solution for these two goals.
