U2410 Game mode preformance with sRGB colors

Might this be a way to get Game mode response times and lower input lag with sRGB colors:

Normally when you change the preset mode from sRGB to Game mode the screen goes blank for a few seconds. Presumably some processing is turned off and some on at this point. However, when the display is in Game mode and you just select the sRGB mode without confirming it, that is, just move the highlight from Game to sRGB and wait for the menu to disappear, the screen doesn't go blank but the colors change to sRGB.

When you check the preset menu after doing so, it shows that sRGB is selected. If, however, you now "press ok" the screen goes blank for a few seconds and the sRGB mode is "properly" turned on.

I don't know if this is somehow not recommended but the colors seem correct and the response quicker.

Indeed. You're right.

I was using sRGB mode and didn't notice any "delay", but then viewing reviews I've change to game mode and it is faster, but the colors too saturated. Then I've found your post and did what you told. It work's just fine. Nice tip.

fidelity,

Is your assertion that if I choose sRGB while in Game Mode and immediately press OK, that sRGB is not actually turned on?

If I may, I'll answer this for him..

While in game mode, the input lag is very minimal, but the colors are too saturated. In sRGB mode the colors are very good, but the input lag is a bit high, some people don't even notice it, but some can notice it. In first person shotters you can see the difference.

Knowing this, when you choose a preset mode, you select it and then press ok, the monitor will light off and then light on with the preset you chose. But fidelity found out that if you're in preset game mode, but whant the sRGB colors, you just cycle to sRGB but DON'T press OK.... and wait the monitor menu essapear. You'll see that the monitor will be in game mode but using sRGB colors. and when you go to menu and see the preset mode you'll see that is the sRGB that is selected, but it isn't "applied", beacuse if you press ok, than the monitor will go to sRGB mode.

sorry for my english, and hope you understand what I've writen..

Is this true? I would love to use Game mode for increased lag prevention but sRGB color pallet.

It's true. :)

Just test it and see for yourself.

After 6 U2410's with tinting problems, I switched to HP zr24w which is a native sRGB display. No more wide gamut problems for me.

Interesting.  I just received one (rev. A06) as a warranty replacement.  It calibrated fine with a i1 Display Pro.  I tried the game mode thing but haven't officially tested lag.
