S2721DGF, cannot set resolution above 2048x1152?

Hello everyone,

I recently acquired a S2721DGF monitor and I'm having trouble running it at 2560x1440@60Hz.

I have two laptops, both have an HDMI 1.4 port (which can run 2560x1440@60Hz) :

Main laptop : Linux (Kubuntu 20.04) with i5-8250U (iGPU Intel HD 620) and GeForce MX150

Secondary latptop : Windows 10 with Intel Pentium 3825U (iGPU Intel HD Graphics Haswell)

On the Windows machine I couldn't set the monitor's resolution above 2048x1152 : maybe the iGPU is too old ? I didn't try much harder because I don't usually use this machine.

On the Linux machine I couldn't set the monitor's resolution above 2048x1152 at first, then I managed to set the resolution to 1440p after an hour of researching and tweaking (I can post the solution I found if you guys are Linux friendly).

My question is : is this normal ? Shouldn't the monitor run at 1440p out of the box ?

Small update :

I tried using a different cable, on both ports, to no avail.

I tried disabling the Intel GPU and using the Nvidia GPU (and vice versa), same result.

We can clearly see in the EDID these modes (highlighted in bold above) :

What gives ?
