P2717H, lock icon resolved

Hello,

I have a P2717H model and I don't have the support since 2020. I had the same problem today. I tried all the solutions in the community. I noticed that it was a hardware problem since it appeared that the buttons were constantly being clicked. Since I didn't have the warranty anymore, I decided to open the monitor and try to fix it myself.

The fix is easy. No need for long resets, pressing buttons for 15 or 30 seconds in this case.

1) Pulled the plastic cover where the Dell logo is located - it's in front of the monitor, on the same row of the front buttons.

2) Behind the buttons there is a small circuit board with 4 buttons and 1 power button with LED.

3) Clean all the contacts with a dry cloth only.

4) Very important: clean also the white conductor. The problem is that this conductor gets confused when it has some sort of liquid and starts to send mixed signals, potentially locking and unlocking the monitor continuously. You have to take all the board out. Don't be afraid and try to force the board to the bottom of the bezel.

5) Test if it works before closing everything. Clean again if necessary. I had to do this many times.

6) Close everything with care.

In my case, it was the cats' uryne that was getting dry and was spoiling my monitor. Terrible

Hope this helps!
