Dell Feature Management Dashboard - Feature Not Installed After Importing It

I installed the Dell EMC Server Management Pack Suite 7.1.1 this morning and have two problems I can't seem to fix.

Problem 1: The Server and Rack Workstation Monitoring feature still shows "Not Installed" after importing it.

I went to the Feature Management Dashboard, selected "Server and Rack Workstation Monitoring" (the free OMSA-based feature, not the licensed one) and then ran the Import Detailed Feature task.  The task completed successfully however the Monitoring Level and In Use Versions columns both still show "Not Installed."  It has been over two hours since I ran the Import Feature and Refresh Dashboard tasks.  In case something was "stuck" I also rebooted the Management Server.

The Operations Manager Event Log on he Management Server does show the following event logged right after importing the feature:
"New Management Pack with id:"Dell.WindowsServer.Detailed", version:"7.1.0.1" received."

I have re-run the Refresh Dashboard task again, and C:\Windows\Temp\DellFeatureMonitoring_Logs\DellFMP_Server.log includes the following, showing it as not installed:

Available Server Managment Pack Suite Version is 7.1-------
CallPrimaryDiscoveryScript Loop :: -- EqualLogic Monitoring -- Not Installed -- 0 -- 7.1 --
-------- Unknown feature Not-Installed instance encountered - EqualLogic Monitoring
CallPrimaryDiscoveryScript Loop :: -- Server and Rack Workstation Monitoring -- Not Installed -- 0 -- 7.1 --
-------- Adding NotInstalled feature instance - Server and Rack Workstation Monitoring
2.28.51 :: -------- Node Count Windows
-------- Final Node Count :0
CallPrimaryDiscoveryScript Loop :: -- DRAC Monitoring -- Not Installed -- 0 -- 7.1 --
-------- Adding NotInstalled feature instance - DRAC Monitoring
-------- Node Count DRAC
-------- Final Node Count :0
CallPrimaryDiscoveryScript Loop :: -- Server and Rack Workstation Monitoring (Licensed) -- Not Installed -- 0 -- 7.1 --
-------- Adding NotInstalled feature instance - Server and Rack Workstation Monitoring (Licensed)
-------- Node Count Licensed
-------- Node Count iSM
-------- Inside Node Count Licensed ::0
-------- Final Node Count :0

Problem 2: The iSM feature is discovering devices, even though the Server and Rack Workstation Monitoring (Licensed) is not installed and I do not have a license to use this feature.

I first discovered this because the Dell Monolithic Servers group has two servers listed twice.  Then I noticed the Dell EMC Servers (iSM) State View is showing these two servers.  I can confirm that these two servers have the iDRAC Service Module installed in addition to OMSA... but I never imported the licensed feature.

I found the Dell Server Discovery from the Dell EMC Managed Server iSM Management Pack is enabled.  I figured I could just disable it, but I never enabled the licensed feature to begin with so figured maybe this is a bug I should report? (I would assume if the feature is not imported and I don't have a license it should t be discovering devices.)

In the MP Guide I did find reference to running the Set as Preferred Monitoring Method task that should resolve this issue, but this task is not available in the list of tasks (probably because the feature is still showing up as Not Installed.)

No, I have not yet found a way to resolve the first (or second) problem.

Hi,

In the Dell EMC Server Management Pack Suite v7.1 (DSMPS v7.1), the Server and Rack workstation monitoring (license-free) feature as well as the Server and Rack workstation monitoring (licensed) [i.e., iSM MPs] are auto-imported on installation of the suite. By default, you will see the scalable feature imported into SCOM. They can be set to detailed mode using Feature management dashboard tasks as you are aware.

When you discover agent-based windows computers (servers) in the Operations Manager console, the OMSA based discovery takes place. If you have enabled the "agent-proxy" setting on the agents, the iSM-based inband discovery also happens simultaneously. In such cases, you may use the "set as preferred monitoring" task from the Feature management dashboard if you do not wish to monitor the server through both features.

Post this when you run the "Dell EMC Server Management Pack Suite v7.1.1.msi" update patch file and perform the update, both the features will continue to work with the configurations set in 7.1.

Could you please provide details for the following,

1. Before installing v7.1.1, when DSMPS v7.1 was installed did the Feature management dashboard show the "Monitoring Level"  for the server monitoring features as "Scalable Feature" ?

2. Which version of SCOM is being used?

3. The Feature management dashboard may not be refreshed. Does the dashboard get updated if you override the "interval seconds" to a lesser time interval for "Dell Feature Management Host Discovery" named object discovery? [Go to Authoring -> Management Pack Objects -> Object Discoveries.]

Regards,

Anjana

I am also having the same issue with all of the components in the Feature Management Dashboard showing "Not Installed" for both the "Monitoring Level" and "In Use Version" columns.  I have two environments (test and production) both running SCOM 2019 and both showing the same symptoms.

Any luck resolving this?

Did you ever solve this in the end?

I was able to get this working by manually importing the "Dell EMC Feature Management" Management Pack.  The Dell installer failed to upgrade this Management Pack to v7.1.0.1.  After manually importing it, the dashboard started working.
