UBUNTU WIRELESS NOT WORKING
Hi,
i used to have Vista installed. with the same problem.. (not connecting to internet. sometimes it would connect and other times it wouldnt...odd).
so i decided to keep up my plan. and installed UBUNTU
the thing is that i dont know how to get the thing working.
here's what i figured out:
i have an inspiron 1525.
0b:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Broadcom Corporation BCM4310 USB Controller [14e4:4315] (rev 01)
they told me (from ubuntu forums) to get hold of this:
The files in XP will need to be bcmwl5.inf, bcmwl5.sys (if you are using 32-bit version of Ubuntu). If you can't find it, you can check the Dell website for them. You will need to use XP instead of Vista drivers.
so i ve been searching for these two files but cant get a hold of em
please if anyone =)
ps. my wireless light when i switched to connect wifi.
never turned on.
odd i suppose.
thank u very much
arigato ^^

Try using this in a terminal:
Where is the self-extracting package for Windows XP that Dell provides... it will look like R<6-digit number>.EXE
This will extract alot of files so you might want to put the package within its own folder. The files you are looking for should be in the DRIVER folder.
