dell precision 7680 ubuntu 22.04.3 LTS heating problem
there is an anormal heating problem when i started using ubuntu and continues using simple text editing purposes. from begining to end battery discharges quickly(appx 1h30m, capacity 83Wh) and thermal values are traveling around 65-70 degrees of celsius.
turbo boost turned off. discharge rate is still fast.
what can i do?
after 1h30m here are temperature values gathered by hardinfo:
```
Hi,
For the battery I have the same issue, I got this Dell precision 7680 three months ago. For the battery I have the similar issue on UBuntu 22.04. it drains quick, but the PC does not get hot, or maybe I didnt check the temperatures in that context. This laptop already came with Win11.
The specs of my machine are as follows
13th Gen Intel® Core™ i9-13950HX × 32
64 GB Ram
Nvidia RTX-4090
I installed Ubuntu 20.04.3 myself and I am also facing another issue, Ubuntu does not detect the RTX 4090, ps some times the screen brightness just reduces by itself. I dont what is the issue. Ive been trying to install CUDA and Nvidia drivers, but to no avail. The GPU is detected in Win11... so I dnt know what do I have to do, Secure boot is also disabled..?
Have you also faced the similar issue for the GPU..? besides getting hot and the battery drain..?
Did you have installed "thermald" on your system? If not, would recommend to install the latest version which would help to manager the thermal under Ubuntu.
@Zorro Zhang Hi, yes now I notice my New Dell getting so Hot for no reason, I turned off the Intel Turbo Boost, but there is no change, there is also an inter Turbo boost max option, that is still turned on. Also intel hyperthreading is on, maybe that is the cause, is the processor running in high frequency mode..??
I cant seem to figure out..?
