Problem to upgrade Dell 5531 Latitude RAM with Kingston Fury Impact 64GB (2x32GB) / 5600Mhz / CL40

Hello,

My previous thread is below, mentioned it was possible to use: (2x32GB = 64GB) in "Dell 5531 Latitude": Crucial 32GB DDR5-5600 SODIMM CT32G56C46S5

https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/latitude/can-dell-latitude-5531-use-ddr5-5600-mhz-ram/6670c740f3831c4dac2b40b2

Now I have bought below RAM instead which looks the same in specifications, I think?

Kingston Fury Impact 64GB (2x32GB) / 5600Mhz / CL40

https://www.webhallen.com/se/product/360967-Kingston-Fury-Impact-64GB-2x32GB-5600-Mhz-SODIMM-DDR5-CL40-KF556S40IBK2-64

The green memory card is the 16 GB which works and came with the laptop.

The black memory card is the Kingston Fury Impact 32 GB

However, when I insert those 2x32 GB in my Dell 5531 Latitude below happens:

1. The computer recognices that more memory is inserted (From 2x16GB to 2x32GB). I click on the button Continue.

2. In BIOS, it shows as in below image:

Memory installed: 65536 MB

Memory Speed: 4800 MHz

As the memory do have 5600 MHz, it seems to automatically have clocked down to 4800 MHz which was my original intention as I know Dell 5531 Latitude only can use Max 4800 MHz.

3. Until here. It all seems fine. But now I get erros like below images. I think the images shows best the errors that do occurs and mentions:
- Memory errors detected. Limit exceeded. Additional errors will not be healed. Location: BANK 0 (DIMM 1), BANK 0 (DIMM 2)

- Hardware problems were detected. To identify and repair these problems, you will need to contact the computer manufacturer.

4. I also tried to only insert 1 Kingston Fury Impact 32GB / 5600Mhz / CL40 but the same error happens with 1 card also.

5. When I insert the original 2x16 GB Cards again. The computer restarts as usual.

I wonder if those: Kingston Fury Impact 64GB (2x32GB) / 5600Mhz / CL40

should work and if so what can I do to make them work?
If they are not compatible. Why is they not compatible?

Kind Regards

Andreas

Fury RAM is aggressively timed and made for gaming systems -- it will not work in your system, which has no provision for adjusting the timing.

If you want Kingston RAM, this is the correct memory for your system.  You will need to return the Fury RAM, which will never work with it.

Crucial and others also sell RAM certified to work.

ejn63,

Thank you very much, this was very helpful. I will return the Fury RAM and buy the one you showed.

I didn't know there was a timing difference as you mentioned. You saved a lot of headache.

Thank you for your help!
