According to Dell Latitude 7480 Owner's Manual, that laptop doesn't use USB-C port for charging. it uses 7.4 mm Barrel Type 65 W or 90 W. "The system is shipped with 65 W adapter and also supports 90 W adapter for fast charging."

Parts-People has both 65 W and 90 W chargers for your laptop.

For anyone who stumbled up this thread, I tested with a USB C Power meter and a USB C (PD supported) charger with my Latitude 7480.

THe USB C Power meter detects my laptop as PD supported and for the last 2 months it is working with USB C (PD supported) charger

Thank you a lot for answering, much much appreciated. You are the first person to reply ever in my search

that laptop doesn't use USB-C port for charging

- Are you 100% sure? I am asking twice because it is very important to me. Secondly, on the USB C port there is an icon that resembles electricity (pic attached). To make matters more confusing, in the manual there is no mention of USB C charging, only about AC Power. And on Reddit someone told that their laptop works with 65W. How can I be sure?

I checked Dell's specifications and manual. And I checked Parts-People for compatible Dell chargers. I gave you the links.

That is for PowerShare. That port can charge devices like your phone after the laptop is put to sleep or other state. It cannot receive a charge.

Right, because this laptop does not charge via USB-C, exactly as I told you.

I said that Dell's specs say it works with 65-watt charger, or 90-watt for faster charging.

It's your choice. I answered your questions and provided you with links.

As I stated, I provided what Dell specified in its manual, that the laptop does not support USB-C charging. Parts-People, the most reliable source of Dell parts, also did not list USB charging as an option on that laptop. We don't have a supply of every Dell model to test, so we rely on authoritative information sources. Like anything else, sometimes they could be wrong. If it does charge, then that's great and Dell's specs and Parts-People are incorrect.

it looks You didnt read it carefully - its written there 7480 supports E5 65w and 90w chargers, and docks wd15, ds1000 and tb16. All of them are usb-c. It also supports charging over usb-c from my phone charger at 15v and any usb-c monitor.

@sami1592 hey!
I want to buy a charger for my latitude 7480 with type C. But my laptop has display port sign on type c. Can you tell me about it. Which type C Charger are u Using. I want to charge both my laptop and my phone with same charger that's why I am thinking to buy a PD charger.
And are u sure this works?

I can testify that I use the type-c port to charge. I got this model 7480 from a friend and it came with a bulky 180W brick but I prefer USB PD charging on all my devices.

Using a device to measure how much current is used, I just tested using a large high capacity powerbank that should do 65W that the machine was charging at 40W.

I have some more chargers and batteries so I can do some more testing if anyone is interested.
