Latitude 7300, Ubuntu 18.04, not booting if not plugged in

My Dell Latitude 7300 was shipped with Ubuntu 18.04. At some point after an update it started failing to boot when on battery power. Following this thread I fixed it:

https://askubuntu.com/questions/1145856/ubuntu-18-04-fails-to-boot-even-in-recovery-mode-stuck-on-loading-initial-ram-d

However, each time I ran the software updater it would break again,

I upgraded to Ubuntu 20.04 when prompted by the Software updater hoping this would fix the problem, but it did not. Does someone encounters the same kind of issues/found a fix ?

Many thanks

You have to replace the battery. Batteries die sooner than in days past. You can try removing the dead battery and use the adapter alone. But that makes it a desktop replacement so you have to shut down completely before unplugging it. If you are still in the one year warranty period, contact support for a replacement.

* Disconnect every peripheral device from the Latitude 7300 leaving only the external AC power adapter attached
* Retest
* Run the ePSA Diagnostic with the external AC power adapter attached

Thanks your suggestion, however, I do not think it is the battery as once the computer is booted with the AC on,  I unplug it and it lasts a full day of work on battery power.
