Latitude 3510, hinges

I work at a school which has several Latitude laptops.  There seems to be an issue with the hinges breaking.  I have a Latitude 3510 and the warranty ended in February of this year and now the hinges are broken.  I think this must be a fault with the laptop hinges as I don't have this problem with other manufacturers.   Is there anyting that Dell can do to help?
