Fingerprint is not working and drive access is slow after bios update
Hello, on my Latitude 5421, after the BIOS update to 1.33, both the fingerprint sensors stopped working. The Windows Hello camera is working fine, but I cannot use the fingerprint to sign in or set up a new finger. Windows is up to date, and the Dell Command Updates are all installed. I tried to downgrade it to 1.30, which is what I was originally upgrading, but it did not help.

Hi everyone,
Dell has released an article addressing the issue with the fingerprint reader not working after a recent Windows update.
Cause: The problem is due to an expired digital signature in the Broadcom ControlVault driver included in the recent Windows update, which affects the fingerprint reader functionality on certain Dell Latitude and Precision laptops.
Final Solution:
A new ControlVault driver has been released and is also available in the Microsoft Update catalog. To download the driver, please visit dell.com/support.

Also, access to the drive and Windows Terminal slowed down significantly.

Hi, I have a Latitude 5411 and updated to BIOS 1.32.0 with the same issue, the fingerprint sensor is not responding.
All drivers are updated.
I have not noticed any performance issues.

@olsamuel I have the Latitude 5540, after the 1.16.0 BIOS, the fingerprint reader is unresponsive. It shows up in the device maganer, but I can't record new fingerprints and it doesn't try to read any existing. Downgrading the bios to the 1.8.1 version didn't solve the problem.

My Latitude 5420 has the same issue after Windows automatic BIOS update. After restart, fingerprint scanner stopped working.

@DELL-Nat M
This workaround worked for us. Is there an official article on this we can follow?
I would like to track the progress of this.

@DELL-Nat M After restarting the PC, the fix no longer works. Is there an approximate date when the long-term fix will be implemented?

Hello,
Several Dell Latitude 5000 series users are impacted in our company as well. Tried to reinstall driver and firmware for Control Vault but it still says that driver version is 5.14.1.1
We tried to downgrade bios version and it didn't work neither.
