E7480 Point Stick Scroll Issues with Windows 10
I have been issued with a new to me E7480 at work that has been loaded fresh with Windows 10. I have been unable to get consistent scrolling with the Point Stick and the middle button. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, most of the time it doesn't. Steps that I have taken include ensuring that the driver is updated and the current version of the Touch Pad app is installed. I've also rolled back to a couple of prior versions of the mouse driver with no apparent change in function. Despite these steps I am not able to get scrolling with the middle button and point stick reliably. I do get two finger scrolling with the touch pad but due to ergonomic issues I cannot use the touch pad full time.
In researching this issue I found guidance do the following; uninstall the Dell drivers and app, uninstall the mouse in device manager with a reboot, remove them again in device manager with a second reboot, then finally reinstall the Dell packages fresh. I had high hopes for this to work and it appeared to do so for a few minutes before failing again.
In use it does not appear to have a consistent trigger of opening new browser windows and programs nor clicking then attempting to scroll. I've had scrolling work for half a page then stop.
My IT folks are just as confused as I am. Unfortunately I do not know the history of this specific machine with regard to other Windows installs (either 7, or another install of 10). I am rather alone at the institution in seeking to use the point stick as my primary mousing device so get advised to just use the track pad or worse an external mouse neither of which is ideal for me.
Does it seem possible this could be a hardware issue? Or is it a driver issue that anyone else out there has had?
Current driver installed is Dell-Touchpad-Driver_86M99_WIN_10.3201.101.212_A07 with Dell-Touchpad-Settings_885J4_WIN64_10.1.10.0_A01.
Thanks, Dan

Looks like I found the fix. Install this "older" Touchpad driver:

I am having the same issue on an 7480 and a 5480. I have a ton of E7440s that all work just fine.
Anyone?

Thanks for that link. I can confirm that this resolved the issue on my machine by installing:
Dell-Touchpad-Driver_0D88J_WIN_10.2207.101.120_A04.EXE
This package was installed on top of the current driver on my machine which resulted in a few extra files being added in the install which appears to have made the difference for me.
