Dell Latitude 5480 - Ram Upgrade - HyperX Impact DDR4 2666MHz - not started
Hi,
I have a 2x8GB 2133MHz ram memory in my laptop. I decided to change the RAM memory to HyperX Impact SODIMM DDR4 2x16GB 2666MHz CL15 (HX426S15IB2K2 / 32).
After inserting the memory into the laptop, it does not start - blink 2x orange and 3x white flashing LED.
If there are new memories in two slots - the system will not start.
If there is new memory in one slot and old memory in the second slot - the system starts.
Processor: i5-7300u
Motherboard: 0R75NX
BIOS: 1.16.0

It sounds like RAM that is not compatible. It should work by the specs but Dell systems can be touchy about RAM types. Crucial are the most compatible as listed here. Interestingly Crucial lists their standard RAM as compatible but not their high performance Ballistix. The blink code does mean no RAM detected. You can call Kingston at the following numbers listed on this site and ask them about the compatibility of the RAM you have.

I only wonder - why do I put HyperX memory into socket DIMMA and the original socket DIMMB system started? Immediately in all other cases it does not work.

HyperX is designed for high performance gaming systems - not business-class notebooks. The RAM timing is aggressive, and since you cannot adjust the system to the RAM timing the memory needs -- the solution is to install compatible RAM.
Kingston does sell RAM certified to work in your system (use their memory configurator to find the correct part). So does Crucial, and so do others.
There's no way you'll be using HyperX in this Latitude.

Good afternoon,
I had the same issue but was able to use one module of the 32GB Kingston HyperX HX426S15IB2K2/32 kit.
The response above about there being no way to use this is incorrect.
The solution I found was to move the Dell 16GB factory SODIMM to Slot B and inserting 1 of the HX426S15IB2K2 / 32 SODIMMs in Slot A.
Reversing the order of the SODIMMS (Dell Slot A, Kingston Slot B) did not work. Only if you put the Dell factory SODIMM in Slot B will the system work with one module of the Kingston HyperX.
Good luck,
Paige

Hi @paigetcampbell ,
I know this is an old thread but I just bought myself the same set of RAM memories.
How did the system recognized your RAM was it 40GB or was it just one of them?
This is really sad that system doesn't recognize the memory
EDIT: sorry I got the Kingston Fury KF426S15IB1/16 x2 not the HyperX

Good Day,
Hi to all sorry for bothering and waking up this thread. I just want to know if Dell has a resolved for this issue? It seems that I encounter same problem with you guys, I have a Dell Latitude 5410 that is subject for RAM upgrade with 2 Kingston Fury KF426S15IB/8. Both of the slots are not working even trying it with a single channel, and also mixing with the old one.
Appreciate future response.
Thanks
