Dell 5414 harddrive options
hello there i just bought 2 dell 5415 I7 off ebay for a good price. I have some harddrive caddys coming as well for them as well. And that I am aware of. They fit the m.2 sata. And I have found out the m.2 nvme do not work.
But I did find a WDS500G1B0C has the same plug on it looks the same as the m.2sata.
The reason why is it has better speeds then the normal m.2sata
Has anyone ever plugged in the
WDS500G1B0C
To the harddrive caddy for the 5414. Would be cool if it would work.
Here is the harddrive caddy of the 5414 with a m.2sata
here is a picture of the WDS500G1B0C
they look like they have the same plug as the m.2sata
Hope anyone can help at all it would be great before I find out the hard way lol

That WD drive is NVMe, not SATA - it won't work any better than any other NVMe drive.
If you need a SATA drive, it's this one from WD: WDS500G2B0B

Rats I also found that out after reading more about the nvme. And sata.
I will go with it was the one year newer that I needed.
Thank you for the advice as well. I am most likely going to get the 1TB drive and max out the ram. Plus size is it has the I7 processor at least.

Welcome to the Dell Community @Shalom44
The Dell 5404/5414 are excellent systems and very expandable.
The bigger brothers 7404/7414 are also excellent systems and very expandable.
WWAN, GPS, Discrete Graphics Card, Hotswap Battery, RGB Keyboard etc.
Best regards,
U2
NOTE: I use a 5414 to Read/Write BIOS chips.
