7490 - Windows Hello and fingerprint reader no longer working.

Question

Hi,

I recently reinstalled my laptop using the recommended Dell recovery image .

When I go into settings->sign in options, Windows says I don't have a compatible camera and a compatible fingerprint scanner. I thought they were were working before the reinstall, but I can't be sure. They may have stopped previous to that.

When I was on the phone to Dell support, they indicated it was a known problem and that Microsoft would provide support for that.

Before I go down that route, has any one else had the same issue?

I did some more checking and the found a page on fingerprnt reader installation https://www.dell.com/support/article/au/en/audhs1/sln155141/fingerprint-reader-installation-guide?lang=en It shows the devices that should be present. None of these are in my device drivers list. I downloaded the Dell ControlVault2 Driver and Firmware installer. When I run this the only option it to uninstall. So I am guessing that it was installed at some point. I have bitllocker actib veIf I uninstall and reinstall this, will it affect
