4K@60Hz on Latitude 7400 (optionally with WD19)
Hello Community,
recently I acquired a Philips monitor and I'm trying to achieve 60Hz at 4K resolution on it. Unfortunately best what i can set is 2560x1440@60Hz, i reject 3840x2160@30Hz because it is really impossible to work with that laggy feeling.
I already read many posts about achieving 4K@60 with or without dock station WD19, but none of the resolutions worked with mine configuration.
The hardware im working with is:
Laptop Dell Latitude 7400, 32GB RAM, Intel i5-8365U, no external GPU, just Intel UHD 620.
Dock Station WD19
Monitor Philips B-line 328B1
HDMI and DP cables that were shipped with monitor
From all of the resolutions i think i haven't tried only the USB-C --> HDMI/DP cable yet.
But can you tell mi if there are some other limitations preventing me to get single display 4K@60Hz with the hardware i have?
I updated Firmware wherever i could. I read spec-sheets of WD19, Latitude 7400, I5-8365U, UHD 620 and trying to put all of this together, but getting a little bit confused where it comes to DP 1.2/1.4, HDMI 1.4a/2.0, HBR2/HBR3.

Laptop hasn't such, but WD19 has 2xDP 1.4 (so it is HBR3 i think) and https://www.dell.com/support/manuals/en-us/dell-wd19-130w-dock/wd19_userguide/tabela-rozdzielczo%c5%9bci-wy%c5%9bwietlacza?guid=guid-5558fc88-5c31-4e2c-90be-42359855a1ae&lang=en-us says i could get 4K@60Hz.
But finally on https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/pl-pl/000183937/dell-systems-supporting-hbr3-specifications?lang=en i read Note: Dell computers listed with Intel Comet Lake or older processors do not support HBR3. I5-8365U is Whiskey Lake (gen8) codename and it's older than Comet Lake which is gen 10 as far as i read.

Update from customer: ". I purchased a USB-C to DisplayPort cable, and 4K/60fps works great now. It must have been an issue with HDMI- which is weird, because that same HDMI cable works fine for 4K/60fps in my PS5."

Hello again.
I acquired some cheap USB-C - HDMI cable on Ali and my prayers have been answered. I can confirm that using such a cable enables 60Hz at 4K resolutiuon, while using two-sided HDMI od DP cables in any combination with WD19 docking station wasn't enough.
If you're struggling with simmilar problem, give it a shot! :)

You may not need a docking station, just get a quality USB-C (thunderbolt) to DisplayPort adapter/cable. Your CPU can support 4K at 60Hz over DisplayPort.

@Chino de Oro thx for suggestion, i have similar adapter, but maybe not that high-end dell certified, some cheap chinese stuff. I already tried it and with this one it's even worse. In Intel Control Center application the screen/monitor section don't even show 4K@60 available. This option is listed when i omit this adapter and connect monitor directly to laptop. But that doesn't change anything, the option is listed as supported by the screen but i cannot select it in any of the configuration windows.
Last hope like i mentioned is direct USB-C -> HDMI cable without any adapters, or maybe that more expensive adapter you linked.
But still, i'm not sure if there were Latitude 7400 versions equipped with newer processors than the one that i have, capable of 4K@60Hz without all that confusion...
