Yet another spilled cup of water on a keyboard

Last night, I spilled some water on my keyboard as I had the computer on. The computer instantly shut down, and the fan started running. I also heard some lovely zzapping noises. I quickly unplugged everything and flipped it over to let the water drip out. I took out the battery and dried it off. Eventually, the fan turned off. For some reason I put the battery back in, the screen flashed, the caps lock light was on and so were the three lights in the front of the system. I proceeded to try to turn it off, but it would not work. I then pulled the battery out again. I then removed the memory, but was unable to get the screws off for the harddrive. I took the keyboard off as well to allow for better ventilation and propped the computer up on some books. So, here are the questions..I've read that some people's systems survived a spill, but because of the instant shut down and the zzapping noises does it seem like I have any chance? I know the question has been answered so many times, but any help would be appreciated..thanks.

Most likely, at a minimum, the system board has been fried - and possibly other components.

buy a new laptop, you well be better off than fixing a 5150.
