XPS 9550 - several dead pixels

Hi,

My Dell XPS 15 is out of warranty (i got it March 3rd 2016 ) but just today i got several dead pixels on the top of the screen. I've tried software (flashing images), damp cloth slowly applying pressure but no luck.  I will try the eraser method tomorrow but I think its no use.  So I'm looking at a replacement.

What is the exact part number of the Dell XPS 15 9550 FHD display ? Mine is the 1080p screen, i was wondering would the 4k screen work with the 9550 ? Any help would be appreciated

aindriu80,

The motherboard would have to support the connections. There are xps9550's with UHD Touch LCD's. You may need to replace the motherboard to support this UHD Touch LCD. Give the Dell Spare parts department a call. They will look up your service tag number to verify if you could change to the UHD lcd or not.

Many Thanks for the part number!

I see a site here that sells them but they are all sold out :S.  www.laptopscreen.com/.../

Do you know if I can install a 4k display instead of a 1080p ? It's 4 times the pixels and maybe Dell didn't design it to jump up that much.

O.k. thanks for looking!

Just a technical question, do you know if it is technically possible to swap in a 4k screen (UHD (3840x2160) instead of a 1080p. I mean will it work ?
