White screen with lines on Dell Latitude D620
I have had my Dell since July of 2006. It got me through my undergrad career with NO problems at all. I have decided to pursue a graduate degree and will be taking some online classes starting in the next few weeks. On and off for the past week now, my screen has started acting up. It goes white with small vertical lines, or when I reboot I get the lines and a distorted log-in screen.
might be going...? I do (any always have) leave the screen open 99% of the time and see no correlation between the screen messing up and opening/closing the laptop. I just want to make sure there is nothing serious going on that will affect my ability to do my online classes. Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks!!

Sorry the form is messing up... What it was SUPPOSED to say was I don't know if there is a connection in the screen going bad or if my video card might be going....?

Hi lnwood,
Welcome to Dell Community.
Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience.
As stated that the screen goes white with small vertical lines, or when rebooted there are
lines and a distorted log-in screen. Please try reseating the cables and the connection
between the LCD and the system board. Also you could try to run diagnostics on the
computer before reseating the cables. If you can see the same white screen with vertical lines
while performing diagnostics then the LCD will need a replacement. Please follow the links
mentioned below,
Link to reseat cables:

Thank you! I already ran the diagnostic test and had no issues. I will get my fiance to help me with reseating the cables, and I will go from there!

I have a dell D620 laptop which has always worked perfectly. Now when I turn it on I get vertical color lines splitting the screen.

If the image on an external monitor is the same, the video chip has failed - you'll need to replace the mainboard.
If an external image is clear, replace the screen.

Hi boxalarm382 ,
Check if the display is same in Safemode with networking. Restart the computer and tap F8 at Dell logo. Select Safemode with networking.
Also, refer the following link for more troubleshooting:
