where is printer cable connection?

I have new inspiron 1705/9400 and can't find the 25 pin (female end) connector to connect printer cable.  How do I connect a printer to laptop?

The machine does not come with a parallel port. You will need to use a USB cable -- if your printer supports USB -- then its a somple USB cable. If your printer only supports a centronics parallel port -- you will need a USB to Centronics cable.

I suggest that you search for on on the internet -- as retail - if you can find it -- will typically run about 35 bucks. On the internet you should be able to find one for less than half of that.

It's on the back of the laptop, the magenta colored port.

Legacy ports are out. Most new systems do not include them. No PS/2, no parallel or serial ports. USB handles it all.

I realize this, but if you have an older printer that runs on a parallel port than Dell is pretty much forcing you to buy a new printer.

Yep, or find a USB Printer cable. I used to have one of those, but I got a new printer. (big smirk)
