Vostro 3750 Using LCD from Precision M6700
A Vostro 3750 comes only with a 1600x900 LCD display, and the very similar Precision M6700 has an optional upgrade to a 1920x1080 LCD display. I was looking for someone who could confirm that I could upgrade my Vostro 3750 display. However, there were no topics on it anywhere that I could find on the internet. Well, after my 2yr old cracked my1600x900 screen (complete care warrantee expired), I decided to risk it and purchased a 1920x1080 screen meant for a Precision M6700.
And by golly, it works great!!!
My Vostro 3750 has a full 1080p (1920x1080) resolution display. I have to say that 1600x900 is just not fine enough for me. Now I'll need to be extra protective of my screen from my 2 yr old.
While Dell can't guarantee this, perhaps this post may help someone else wondering the same thing.
If you go for this, use caution when replacing your LCDs. I am a Dell certified technician, and LCDs are not considered an customer replaceable unit. It's not a hard job, but you can void a warrantee and damage your laptop. Make sure you know what you are doing, before you start.
Cheers.
