Vertical line on screen of new laptop!

I just set  up my new Inspiron 13 7000 and can't get rid of a black, dotted vertical line about one-third of the way in the screen. i've run the diagnostic tests on Dell's website and no problems show up. I am so frustrated! thanks for any help.

Thanks. After running a number of diagnostic tests I decided to call Dell tech support. They determined there is indeed a design flaw & are sending me a new computer since this one is under full warranty. I purchased this thru an eBay vendor but decided not to get him to send me another one because he might have gotten a flawed batch.

Having a line showing up on the display is frustrating enough,  having one on a new system is just that much worse.

If you have an external monitor nearby, perhaps to a desktop system connect it to the notebook and start the system up, do you notice the line on the external monitor or does it only show on the LCD screen? If you noticed the lines only on the LCD screen and not the external monitor you will need a service to replace the LCD.

If you see the line on the external monitor try reinstalling the video drivers: Inspiron 13 7347 driver, Inspiron 13 7352 driver, or the Inspiron 13 7348 driver. Pick the corresponding driver for your system. Are you able to install the driver, was there any error messages, did installing the driver correct the problem? If the lines showed on both the LCD and the external monitor and reinstalling the drivers failed to help you may need a service to have the graphics chip replaced.

I am sorry for the inconvenience. It is never fun on a new system.

So tech support is sending out a replacement system, good.   Having a hardware problem like this on a new system happens occasionally but I certainly understand how disappointing it can be.  I am glad that tech support is taking care of it for you.
