Vertical colored lines on monitor

Hi I have a Deminson 3600 I have vertical color lines on my monitor. I tried a different monitor and same issue occured.

Some say it is my graphics card, the computer is quite old (2004).

Hi Cathie,

There is a possibility that the issue could be with the monitor's cable; did you try connecting the monitor with a different cable? In case you face the same issue with a different cable too, check if you get the vertical lines in BIOS (system setup):-

  • Restart the system and keep tapping 'F2' as soon as the Dell logo appears. 

If you do not see the vertical lines in BIOS, boot your system in Safe Mode with networking and check the system’s performance:

  • Restart the system and keep tapping 'F8' as soon as the Dell logo appears.
  • Highlight 'Safe Mode with Networking' using arrow keys and press enter.
