Staples Laptop Repair program.

I stopped in to my local Staples store and noticed a promotion of their new Laptop servicing program. I asked the folks inside and they told me that they would fix any laptop for a flat fee of up to $380. I have a problem with the MOBO on my laptop and this seems in the ball park for a mother board and installation.

Has anyone heard of this b4 or have used it?

That's not a good idea IMO. The "flat fee" would not include parts and a motherboard can run up to $400-$500. You can buy a new laptop for about $500 now. Laptops with big problems are not usually worth fixing.

Bad idea.

I bought a brand new Dell Studio 1536 from staples, and it had a problem where if you put more then the slightest pressure on the left touch pad button, the laptop would just power-off (not shut down, just like you yanked the battery)

they couldn't fix it.. they sent it back to Dell... Dell apparently couldn't fix it either, because they sent it back to me 'fixed' and it did exactly the same thing when I powered it back up there at staples.. I had to get quite agrressive with Staples to make them give me another laptop.. and this Studio isn't exactly right either.
