soda spilled on keyboard and it barely works

I spilled clear soda  on my keyboard 2 weeks ago, and it has become almost impossible to use. i was afraid to pour water on it, so i used a wet paper towel to clean the top and used the compressed air to dry it/clean it as best i can.

now the keys stick so much that i cannot type a word without one or more letters not working. has anyone installed a new keyboard to know if they work? I don't know if the problem is greater than just the keyboard.

any advice would be welcome!

Yes, you can get a new keyboard. If the laptop powers up, that is very good. It could have been a lot worse. Just call up Dell and get a replacement keyboard.

I have been an IT Professional for several years.  The quickest way to fix this is to go to the drug store and buy a bottle of 91 rubbing alcohol and a bottle of 409 cleaning liquid. Mix 8 oz. of the alcohol and oz. of the 409. Put this on your keyboard and immediately drain it off.  The alcohol will evaporate quickly and clean up the mess also.

Good luck.

Shezageek. You lost some of the information on the mix. How many ounces of 409? Also I assume this is done with the keyboard out of the notebook!
