SmartCard Reader

I have this new Dell Latitude D600 that has a thin slot underneath the PCMCIA card slot that the manual says its for SmartCard Reader.  The slot is very wide for smatcard insertion.

How can I make use of the stated SmartCard Reader to read my 128Mb SmartCards?

Thanks

Sudz

i could be wrong - but i think the slot under the pcmcia/pc-card slot is a smart reader card (ie: american express BLUE) w/ the simm chip on it

i dont think it will read standard smartmedia cards (such as used for digital cameras, mp3 players, etc

You could be right.  I was able to insert a similar (smartcard) Credit card.  However windows xp did not recognize it as another drive.  May be I need appropriate driver for it.

Thanks anyway.

Sudz.

I would like to use this reader with my DOD Common Access Card (CAC).  Does anyone know if this can be done and what drivers and additional software is needed to do this?
