Saving Word document to file.

When I tried to save a Word document tonight it came up with a message "Document1-Microsoft Word non-commercial use (Not Responding)" This is the first time this has happened.  When I try to close it down it will only do so if I save it to the recovery file and when I open up a new word document the recovery document is in the left hand column and when I close down the document I go through the Whole process of saving to the recovery file.

Hope someone can help.
