Removing junk software

I am getting my new 600m laptop next week.  My question is, how do you remove all the junk software that Dell includes on the computer.  I read somewhere that you can just reload your OS.  Is that all there is to it?  Thanks for your help!:)

betsygirl2001,

What some users recommend is that you format the harddrive first, then install the Operating System (Windows XP) fresh.

Thank you for choosing Dell.

Click here for a well respected site with complete instructions.  Before you do anything, burn all the files in C:\Dell\Drivers to a CD.  You will need to re-install these drivers after the format.  Have all your software CD's handy, the ones that came with the system.

If you're not comfortable doing this, ask a friend who's computer savey to help you.  It takes about an hour or so to do.

Good Luck

you can also download all the updated drivers from the download link above.  in my opinion its easier to install from the drivers cd than copy everything, but to each their own.   You can get step by step instructions for formatting and installing windows and drivers by clicking here just click the link for each driver and windows.
