Numeric keypad not working on laptop or external
My Dell Inspiron 15 5000 series numeric keypad isn't working. I've attached an external one and the numeric keypad doesn't work on it either. What has happened and what can I change? Where is the notification that NumLock is on or off or is mine broken?

I went into regedit and changed the 0 to a 2 in the HKEY_USER registry key. I finally got it to work by changing settings of the mouse, turning off the mouse key check box in ease of access center.
Thanks for your help, now my numlock is on when computer turns on.

Did it work at one time? It can be disabled in the bios.

Yes it did, till a couple of days ago. How do I check it in the bios? Is this a process that I might have accidentally disabled in task manager?

lostintech,
There are actually several ways to enable/disable the numerical keypad.
As I mentioned the bios is one but before you try that read this web
site.

Hope this helps.

I wish I could say that worked. Now the numeric keyboard to the right of my keyboard the numbers 248 and six are operating as arrow keys. How do I get it to operate as the numbers?
