I contacted a friend who had a Dell XPS laptop and he uses ValueRAM 2GB and it worked fine for him.

Could someone please state other RAM's which are incompatible with Dell Computers?

Its a lottery mate..I've seen systems running quite happily on ValueRAM myself...but you just don't know what you're buying. Best to go for guaranteed modules, and as you've seen sometimes the Value stuff is dearer than the good stuff

That can happen - problem is the next buyer sees that and expects the same -- the outside of the package looks the same, after all. The product inside won't be - it'll be completely different and won't work at all.
Same thing happens with store-brand auto parts - you can take two identical boxes off the shelf with oil filters in them and find the part inside was made by two completely different manufacturers. Both will fit the car - but one may be very much better made than the other, and the buyer is none the wiser.

1...it's out of stock
2...it's cheap nasty value RAM
Save up the extra cash and get some decent stuff

EDIT: Didn't see your reply above....that's what happens when you buy ValueRAM. Send it back and get your money back. You could remove the 2GB stick and try the 4GB in each slot at a time and run memory diagnostic (Boot to F12) but my guess is it's a faulty module.

What's wrong with the "ValueRAM"? (quite expensive 47$ so im assuming it's quite good). Also is there a possibility that it could be an incompatible RAM or is it just a 'bad' module?

So i contacted the place where i bought the RAM and they won't offer a refund they only offer warranty for the same product, so i think im forced to get another replacement of the Kingston ValueRAM, hopefully this one would work.

Also i purchased this RAM earlier today and it when i insert into the RAM slot it my laptop shuts down after 3 seconds of loading Windows 8. I have tried running memtests via USB boot but they fail as my PC shuts down. The original 2GB Ram works fine but when i add the 4GB Kingston RAM to any of the two slots this issue arises. Could anyone tell me what is causing this issue?

It's called "Value" for a reason...the Crucial 4GB module is only $37.99 and that's good quality RAM. Send it back.

It's impossible to state what's incompatible - there are too many brands out there. If you want a guarantee of compatibility, Crucial has one -- so does Kingston, if you buy its KTD-spec RAM. So do others.
To be avoided: ValueRAM from anyone (it's not a consistent product - it's whatever the company could buy cheapest at a given point in time), and no-name RAM.

ValueRam is incompatible with Dell computers, better to buy from Crucial where they guarantee their RAM to work with Dell computers.

and if it doesn't? This company sounds a right rip off. They can't even get their advert right...

Hi Thilan2013,
The Inspiron N4010 system supports dual-channel DDR3 SDRAM SODIMM with memory speeds of 1333 MHz. The memory in the link above is compatible with your system.

Check with the vendor - if they're not willing to back that up with a guarantee, buy elsewhere.
