Laptop battery - replacing WU946 with KM905 on studio 1537
Hi,
I have a Studio 1537, which currently has a WU946 (6 cell) battery with a 65 Watt power adaptor.
Can I replace this with a KM 905 (9 cell) battery and use a 90 watt power adaptor to charge it?
I have been searching online whether a WU946 can be replaced with a KM905, but havent found any satisfactory answers. The battery has a warning printed on it: "Replace only with KM887, WU946 or MT264 batteries"

Hi,
Welcome to the Community. Part # KM905 (Battery, primary,9c) is compatible with your Studio 1537.
Hope this helps

Thanks Elijah.
I have read at a couple of places that I would need a 90W adapter instead of a 65W one to utilize a 9cell battery to its fullest capabilities. Is that true?

Not necessarily, but if the system has discrete video it should have come with a minimum 90W adapter - using a 65 is likely to result in the system not running at full speed.

You can definitely use your 65W Ac adapter. Both AC adapter (90 or 65) will charge your battery. The last post has a good point. If you have a discrete video, it really requires a 90W adapter. If you need further details regarding your computer's specification please contact your regional technical support.
Thanks,
