Installing fingerprint reader on D630

Hi,

I have a Latitude D630 with a general touchpad. I found a complete secondhand touchpad with fingerprint reader for quite a good price. I was Googleing and reading Dell support but I couldn't find any info how to install it. Does anyone have experience with it? Does it require any extra cable, connector or is there any other difficulties with installing it? And also will it affect my warranty?

It would be nice to have a fingerprint reader but I don't want to buy it and find out that I can't use it.

Thanks

Hi,

did you manage to install the fingerprint-enabled touchpad with the standard cable (the one you've used with the original touchpad)? My touchpad failed and I'm thinking about buying the fingerprint-enabled one.

BTW did you try the fingerprint-enabled touchpad with Windows 7?

TIA

Finally a didn't buy a fingerprint reader. All the good deals are gone, I don't want to spend 50 quid on something that may not work at all. But if you have to buy one it might worth buying it. I don't think there's a big difference in the price.

Please keep me updated.
