Inspiron 6400 won't turn on

Hi,
My Inspiron 6400 does not start when battery is in. With power cord attached and no battery, LED lights blink once when I press on/off button and that's it - nothing on the screen, etc. Hard drive is fine, I put it into enclosure and connected to another PC - it's not damaged. What can it be ? A motherboard problem ?
Thanks
Ed

Hi erappa,

I’d suggest that you follow the steps mentioned below and check for issue resolution.

1. Switch off the computer.

2. Disconnect the AC adapter from the system.

3. Remove the battery from the computer.

4. Press and hold down the power button for 15 seconds.

5. Then connect back all the peripherals and check if you are able to turn on the system.

Also, I suggest you reseat a few components, like memory, hard drive, optical drive, wireless cards and see if that makes a difference. In the link below punch in the system service tag or express service code and you can access the user manual for removing and reseating components.

Please let me know the findings.

Hi Erappa,

It seems like an issue either with the Motherboard, memory or power unit. Please private message us the system service tag and your contact details so that I could arrange a call back from our Dell out of warranty repairs team for repairs.
