Inserting Memory Card causes BSOD

I have a Dell Inspiron e1505 (also 6400). Every time I insert a Memory Stick into the laptop's card reader, you hear the sound of a new device, and I see a bubble pop up from the tray to show this. However immediately, the Blue Screen of Death flashes, and I can't read the message on the BSOD because right after that the computer reboots. I have tried updating the drivers of the memory card reader available at Dell's website, but that didn't work (it's by ricoh). I am running Windows XP Professional SP2, and the memory sticks I am using work with other devices. I really need your help!
