how to access my dell recovery partion

Greetings,

I am attempting to do a system recovery for Dell Inspiron N4010, and cannot access the Windows 7 recovery partition. For instance, when attempting system recovery it tells me I need Windows 7 installation disk instead of just accessing the recovery partition.

My computer only lists

  • OS (C:)
  • DVD RW Drive (D:)
  • Microsoft Office Click-to-Run 2010 (Protected) (Q:)

However, when I go to Computer Management/Storage/Disk Management I see the recovery partition listed there as Healthy.
Disk Management reads:

  • _______     Healthy OEM Partition
  • OS (C:)        Healthy (Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Primary Partition)
  • Recovery     Healthy (System, Active, Primary Partition)

How do I gain access of recovery partition to perform system restore. I have my recovery disc but hes getting error when its comes to 13% of recovery.or may be the disc having a problem. Can I re-copy the disc to another disc?

Please assist.

Thanks in advance!

First, uninstall any version of Dell DataSafe or Dell Backup and Recovery. Then restart and install the latest version:

This might be able to fix the issue.

Try making a Recovery USB:

Then try restoring from the Recovery Partition:

Before doing this, run an extended hard drive diagnostic on the drive.  F12 at powerup.

Actually I already done all the options I know

The f8 for recovery

I also have my recovery disc but the problem here was he can't proceed even 30% of recovery and I received error,

And also  I have recovery partition on drive D having a 14.6 GB, and when I til the PC resrtore

A new window comes up with a notice: this utility will restore your system software to the original state it was in when it left the factory. In order to return the system to the factory state all personal files will be overwritten"

So , when I til next another warning: this will erase your o.s. hard drive partition prior to restoring the factory image , and when I tik yes, another window notice, This utility is now reformating your hard drive and restoring the factory image

Then.. Error pops out

" The restore file:\Dell\image\factory.win could not be found..

I'm stock at this point....

Please giuide me

Thank you.

As mentioned run the F12 preboot diagnostics:

http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/f12-preboot-diagnostics/

Either the drive has failed or the internal recovery partition is corrupt.

I can give you guides to manual clean installation but first we must know the drive is good.
