How do I know if a Dell laptop is stolen?
Hi. I was in a rush to buy a Dell Lattitude 6420 and I jumped the gun and bought a "new" laptop through Amazon.
Turns out I didn't read description and it is "new" by it's aesthetic condition, not that it's new. It's used. Once I had my mind clear I started to wonder if maybe the laptop was stolen, since the SN stickers were taken out. Something didn't seem right.
Now I'm worried. I don't want to be using something if it was stolen. How do I know if a Dell laptop was stolen?
With police I'll probably get nowhere, my local police would know nothing and I don't want to make a big deal out of possibly nothing. Does Dell have a repository of Serial numbers that report stolen? I can get the serial from the cmd prompt.

Assuming the service tag number is valid, yes, you can use that Dell support to verify the system status.
If the current owner/seller can't transfer the system into your name, though - you should return it for a refund as you'll have no warranty.
