HOW COME I CAN'T WATCH DVD'S ON MY COMPUTER??????????

hey ,

my name is Marty,

I signed up on my dads name who paid online through the nose for this dell

and he's always watching tv and I can't ever seem to watch any dvd's because he's always

watching his shows , so I tried to watch a dvd on my dell computer and it won't even support the cd

when i put the dvd in , the computer tells me there is nothing there put a cd in please.

I tried several times to do this and still it doesn't even acknowledge that a cd is in there .

How come???????????

why can't I watch dvd movies on my computer ???????????

it isn't like I'm gonna burn them I don't do that sort of stuff.

will somebody explain or tell me what is wrong?????????????
