Help with Wireless Internet Card

it seems that my Inspiron 1000 laptop is not reading my wireless card to connect to the internet.  The card is a TrueMobile 1300 802.11 b/g PC Card.  In the house we have a TrueMobile 2300 Router that seems to be working fine.  It reads the other laptop for Wireless but not mine.  I have no idea what is wrong, hopefully not having to buy a new card.

Is this a new issue?  Did it work before and now it's not working?

Any recent software changes?  Does the OS detect and install the drivers for the card?

I have had the laptop for about a year now. it was working fine, then the pc got reformatted because everything on it was old and now it cant read the card I guess.  I ran the cd for the drivers to install the software for the wireless but still not picking up any signal.

No you shouldn't need a new card.  If it worked fine and now after a reformat it's not working, then you are having software issues that have nothing to do with the card.

You should check in device manager to see if the card is listed under the network adapters section.  If it is, make sure that the drivers are loaded and the device is "working properly".  You may also want to double check that the card you have is the card you think you have.  Don't take that the wrong way, it's just that Dell has quite a few options out now so it get's confusing.  Open the cover on the bottom of your machine and just verify the card in the machine is the TrueMobile 1300.

If it's not, then see which card it is and get the correct software...
