getting files off laptop hard drive
Hi – hope you can help.
I am trying to help my daughter.
Her Inspiron 1545 Service Tag Service tag removed per privacy policy> has completely died – water ingress – needs new mother board at least.
She cannot afford this, so I am trying to get her files off the hard drive ( no backup of course) onto a Dell Dimension 3100 desktop that I own.
I have the HDD in a USB caddy and it appears to be working fine. How ever some folders (e.g. Documents and Settings) give me an “Access Denied” message. I‘ve tried allsorts (even trying to boot the desktop from the USB HDD) but to no avail.
We know her User name and Password of course, but I have never seen an opportunity to deploy these.
Help !
